I used to think that human intelligence and imagination is infinite.
Nope. It’s not.
Proof: TV remote controllers.
They are all black and it’s so hard to find them around the house since they don’t contrast brightly against the furniture.
I found out in a Reddit group that remote controls are manufactured to match the control of the TV set. If your set is silver, then apparently the remote is also silver in color. If the set is red, then the remote is also red.
Huh. Never heard of that since every single TV set that I bought during the last 40 years have all been black. I never saw a non-black TV set in anyone’s house either.
So, I searched on Google the number of TV sets that are manufactured in black.
First, it gave a whole list of blog posts about the number of African-Americans in the TV industry. Hello?
I refined my search. This time it gave me the percentage of black-and-white TV sets.
Grrr@#!…
The Internet is an idiot. I just couldn’t reach the number. But I’m sure 90 % of all TV sets are manufactured in black color.
Imagine white or glowing yellow or green remote controls. Wouldn't it be easy to find them at one look?
All relentlessly black… What kind of a customer-focused design idea is that?
I honestly must be spending at least five minutes total a day looking around for my TV remote.
That’s of course not a significant amount of time to rant about.
But the necessity of doing so is very irritating. It’s like a thorn in your shoe.
Every time it’s time to look for the remote, I know I’ll be looking at at least two or three locations to locate my black remote. It gets to you after a while.
C’mon the smartest brains in the world: do this! Start manufacturing remotes that shout and jump at us even in the darkness of the night.
Designers of the world — unite! For you have nothing to lose but all the curses we put together every time our remotes get lost from right under our noses.
When we purchased a new television set it turned out to be the same model of the one that broke. The old remote works with the new tv so we've got two now which comes in real handy because one or the other of them is always getting lost...under the cushions, under the chair, kicked across the room. And so hard to find in the dark. If it was a cell phone, I'd just call the number and see where it rings.
That's a really interesting point about the color of remote controls and the time we waste looking for them. I recently purchased a chair caddie that hangs over the arm rest of my recliner. I keep the remotes in there at all times.
